Treasure Hunter

Treasure Hunter is crap.

In a desert, there is a rumour of a lost city, which holds numerous treasures, including a pearl. A group of mysterious guardians have kept the map to the location of the treasure safe, until a fierce rivalry erupts. A notorious international crime group, The Company hunts down the map keeper and before they manage to secure it, the keeper passes the map to a young chivalrous man Qiao Fei (Jay Chou). Qiao Fei is forced to give up the map to save the live of the keeper's daughter Lan Ting (Lin Chi Ling). Teaming up Master Hua and Pork Rib, they embark on a dangerous journey to recover the map and to find the lost city.

The movie tries to pass itself as Indiana Jones, but fails miserably. The chemistry between Lan Ting and Qiao Fei was so fake and the acting by the leads (as expected) was really off-par. The plot twists, turns and goes back and forth in time, leaving many holes in the storyline and the audience confused.

You know how in the trailer, there was a fight scene which involved a guy, supposedly unrolling heaps of toilet paper. You would think he's the villian. But he's not. He just appeared for that fight scene only. There wasn't even an actual villian can. The script was lousy, with Lan Ting becoming merely just someone to ogle at and not spouting any intelligent lines whatsoever. She can't even string a sentence together. When she is scared, she mouths "Ke Pa" and hugs Jay Chou. -_-"

A movie packed with a lot of familiar faces, but forgettable plot. Eric Tsang's Pork Rib saved the day and provided much comic relief. I think I rather go watch Bodyguards & Assassins. Go Xie Ting Feng!
