Movie Mania
This week was a whirlwind of FYP, trainings, the rec bbq and movies.
I'm dead beat and I don't know how I should go about applying for a job or whether I should even start with FYP looming over me and all. And this thought isn't sudden, it's been hanging over me like a dark cloud that threatens to pour. People have been asking about the job thing. Heck, I remember myself asking HW about the job thing last year. Gosh, I was such a pain. Haha. I bet CNY will all be about: "So have you found a job yet?" Maybe I'm just afraid to try. What if I fail? I would be miserable.
Watched Hua Mulan with Hui. Everybody should know how the story goes. I must say Zhao Wei impressed me with her acting in this flick. But her mascara during battle totally distracted me can. Haha. Though the ending is not Disney-happy, it's a good movie with a nice thought-out plot and great acting from the leads. Definitely one of the better movies I have watched.
And then I watched Couples Retreat. It's about 4 couples who go to this paradise island for a holiday and end up understanding more about themselves as individuals and as a couple. I think this movie tried to do too many things. It tried to be slapstick as well as romantic comedy and failed miserably on both fronts.
Ninja Assassin is a Rain vehicle. -_-" And only his body is hot in the movie. That face, that accent, that mop hairstyle - they all sucked. The plot is about a clan that kidnaps or adopts orphans and trains them to be assassins. For an action movie, it really is very lame. The action is too fast to notice, and everything is black cuz ninjas wear black. It's just black and a lot of tomato sauce. And the story line has holes. Like, where are the other 8 clans? And how come all the other ninjas lose to Rain? And how come Rain knew who the ninjas planned to kill - so that he could save her? And also since Rain betrayed them, what took the other ninjas so long to catch him and bring him back? And this line is so stupid: "Betrayal means fresh blood." I wish they stop talking like Yoda. I do not like this movie.
OMT! I love Nicholas Tse. Did I mention that already? Okay, he doesn't play a huge role in this film. But I think he will be the lead baddie in Feng Yun 3 (if there is one). Ever since he stuck with Cecilia Cheung, my impression of him is all Good. And he's also such a supportive husband and father. =) I'm glad Xie Ting Feng is all grown up now.

Okay, apart from Nicholas Tse, Storm Warriors 2 isn't really good. It was like a silent movie. Not much dialogue and the plot was really thin. The action, wasn't all that great, cuz it looked fake since it was trying to achieve an out of comic book effect. Anyway, I think Second Dream played by Charlene Choi is pretty. Charlene Choi has really come of age and grown so beautiful.
Final result: Watch Mulan only. The rest sucked.
