The Blue Mansion
A big thank you to Hui for coming down to help with my FYP! Thank you, thank you, thank you! =D
Watched "The Blue Mansion" with Hui on Saturday. The whole theatre was empty except for us and it was already a 12.20pm show. Guess people don't wake up too early on a Saturday. I enjoyed the alone screening cuz we could talk as loudly as we wanted to. I wonder what happens to movies that have no one in the theatres. Do they end up not being played? Cuz it would be a waste to play them if no one was there watching. I don't know why such things bother me, but they do.
"The Blue Mansion" had a good start, I think. There was a substantial plot, suspense, witty dialogue and wonderful acting (Neo Swee Lin really lost a whole lot of weight and Tan Kheng Hua is still as hot as ever). However towards the middle it sort of fizzled. I think it tried to flesh out too many characters, but ended up being a "master of none". And the ending as Hui said, was a bit contrived. It didn't really seemed logical. But I'm proud that a local flick can manage what seems like a very driven piece not meant to be a political statement nor a flick targeted at the hokkien-spouting masses (though Hui and I are part of the hokkien-spouting masses. haha.). And I'm so sad that there was no happy ending for Adrian Pang's character. Poor thing. Going to die of lung cancer.
Celebrated CY's birthday at JP. Made him walk around JP for more than 1/2 an hour looking for all of us (who were individually "hidden" at different parts of JP) and then "surprised" him with a little cake, a lighted candle and a Happy Birthday song at New York New York. I don't know if it's really a surprise cuz he didn't look too surprised, just embarrassed. JP's New York New York really rocks! I don't understand why the menu looks totally different from Heartland Mall's. Happy Birthday CY! Because of CY's birthday celebrations at JP, I'm now back in hall. So no potato gratin. Haha.
Still finding focus group volunteers. Take pity on me and help!
