The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnussus
Okay, I'm horribly outdated. But I think this movie is still showing. Only at selected cineplexes of course, like Cathay. I don't think GV shows this film. It's almost like a quarter artsy, quarter comedy, quarter horror, quarter fantasy film. This is Heath Ledger's last film and filming had to be halted because he passed away midway through filming.Synopsis:
The film follows the leader of a travelling theatre troupe who, having made a deal with the Devil, takes audience members through a magical mirror to explore their imaginations in an attempt to win souls from the devil.
The plot is really confusing and jumps back and forth in time. It's also not exactly the most logical movie. But you have got to watch it to find out. Cuz it's a chore for me to explain. Haha.
The cast is amazingly star-studded, with big names like Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell and Jude Law. These three men took on the role that Ledger left after his death. They represent the three different images that Ledger's character portrayed each time he went into the mirror.
I also thought the role of Percy was played very well. :)
Anyhow, model Lily Cole was stunning as Valentina and she looks remarkably like Deon Aoki. Although it's hard to believe that she is playing a 16 year old. She looks so womanly and sexy, and she keeps smoking (I don't know why she must smoke!). Who will believe she is 16?
The costumes and the set were incredible as well.
The plot being rather artsy and fantastical, it was hard for some in the audience to grasp it.
Beautiful tribute to a great actor though.
