Le Grande Chef 2 & Kick-Ass

Watched two movies this week. Le Grande Chef 2, just cuz we watched the first one. But if you haven't watched Le Grande Chef, it's alright, there is no connection between both movies, apart from playing on the themes of food, family and the male lead being a produce seller of sorts. If you watch Korean dramas, you might see some familiar faces. Luckily, I don't like kimchi, if not I would surely be very hungry throughout the movie. I understand the intention of the movie makers to play on the themes of tradition versus modern, but it became a tad too obvious who was going to win in the end. And looking at so many kimchi dishes got me a bit bored. I want other dishes too! It's also very sad that some parts of the movie had no continuation, like one guy got caught by the police, but nobody said what happened to him after, just cuz he was not a main character.

Kick-Ass was AWESOME!!! I mean it was a bit disconcerting at first watching an 11-year-old slashing grown men like it was all a game, and her dad shooting her in the chest to prepare her for situations when she would get shot in the chest etc. But, I think the movie was a very real superhero show. These vigilantes didn't have any special powers. Some of them were even driven by very human desires for revenge. And there are scenes that show like how youtube and video recording software were taking over our lives and an on-air execution scene really haunted me. It's almost like those videos terrorists take and send to the media when they are conducting a live execution. Kudos to Nicholas Cage and Hit Girl, Chloe Morentz for great acting.

Ooh, and I entered some SATC competition. So vote for my entry: http://h30476.www3.hp.com/video
